Stoichkov, Balakov, Gonzo and the entire Levski squad opened a sports complex in Lyulin

“This is a unique facility; I haven’t seen anything like it in Bulgaria,” said Hristo Stoichkov.

The new football and padel sports complex Sport Edition in Sofia was officially opened today by its owner, Daniel Borimirov, during a formal ceremony. The event was attended by the entire Levski team with head coach Julio Velázquez and majority shareholder Nasko Sirakov, Ballon d’Or winner Hristo Stoichkov, legendary midfielder Krasimir Balakov, Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) president Georgi Ivanov, representatives of local authorities, and other officials.

The Sport Edition complex features six indoor padel courts and three modern football pitches, built on an area of 15,000 sq. m. The site also includes a restaurant with a children’s play area and other amenities for visitors. The facility is located in Lyulin 6 residential district, 2 Indira Gandhi Street, Sofia.

“This is the sports complex I’ve been trying to build for the past four or five years. I went through many difficulties. For me, today is a memorable day. After so much effort, I managed to create what I wanted and present it to you. This project was supposed to be built in Boyana. In 2021–2022 you know what difficulties I went through. People were brought to the stadium there. That is now in the past and I don’t want to look back,” said Borimirov.

“I’ve created all the necessary conditions. I’ll show you the changing rooms and the restaurant. I’ve closed the circle from every angle. When parents bring their children to train, they can go into the restaurant and watch the training session or match on the TVs. I’ve made every effort not to disadvantage Levski in any way. I want to express my huge thanks to my family, who were here on site every day, overseeing all activities. I’m launching this project first and hope it gets off to a good start. I don’t think there’s another similar sports complex in Bulgaria. If everything goes well, why not build another one? People who love sport need such conditions,” added Levski’s executive director.

“I want to congratulate Boro for what he has done. This is the way forward. Every club and every municipality should have such a facility. I haven’t seen another like it in Bulgaria. Let’s hope other people will follow this path as well. This is a unique facility. In Boyana they didn’t allow him to build it because at the time there was nowhere for the donkeys and horses to graze,” commented Hristo Stoichkov.

“I travel everywhere and I’ve seen many things. There are many programs. The BFU president, the Ministry of Sport, and the Ministry of Education need to present me with plans showing where such facilities can be built in schools, and I’ll sign immediately. I’m still waiting. How long I’ll keep waiting—I don’t know,” added Stoichkov in relation to another project.
